While the A-listers of the music world may have headed stateside last weekend for the Grammies 2014, the creme-de-la-creme of the buggy world were staying right here in the UK. All roads led to London on Tuesday when the Buggy lovers amongst us descended upon The St Martins Lane Hotel for Silver Cross’s eagerly anticipated launch of the new Reflex model.
Now I’m not one to excited about buggies very often, but this one impressed me. Its innovative design means that this umbrella folding pushchair can be easily converted into a parent-facing pram and car seat travel system for the early days and then into a stroller (with masses of growing room) as they head into the toddler years.
I was instantly wowed by the beautiful range of colours the Silver Cross Reflex is available in, but it wasn’t this that won me over. Safety features are at the core of Silver Cross’s DNA and, for the first time ever, a buggy has been created with a central LED lighting system for high visibility when its dark.
My first thought when I heard this? Amazing, perfect for the walk back from the pub down the lanes. If that doesn’t win me Mum Of The Year nothing will!
In all seriousness though, this is a revolutionary idea. I live in a fairly rural area with little to no street lighting. Knowing that the days of pushing the buggy while juggling the phone I’m using as a touch could be over pleases me greatly. How has this not been done before?
My final test for the Silver Cross Reflex was could I lift it off the ground (for all those time I need to get up and down train station stairs) while my toddler was safely strapped inside. I could, easily.
I have been looking for a buggy that I can use until O grows to the age of walking everywhere. One that folds up small and easily, has ample storage underneath, is lightweight yet sturdy, easy to push and, finally, stylish.
Ladies and Gentleman…..I have found her.
