Now work is getting busier for me and The Essex Husband is back on a Monday-Friday shift pattern, our weekends have become even more precious. The one just gone we headed down to the Gruffalo Woods Brentwood for a little Essex Gruffalo Hunting.
The Gruffalo Woods Brentwood, set within Thorndon Country Park, is a wonderfully fun adventure for all the family. It’s not that big of an area to walk around, plus it has recently had the addition of paths in some areas allowing better access for buggies. Costing only £3 for parking, and with no entry fee, it’s a must visit for all Gruffalo loving children.
Gruffalo Woods Brentwood
We headed down to find The Gruffalo and his friends armed with wellies, waterproofs and a picnic. For a small fee a map of the Gruffalo Woods Brentwood can be purchased from the visitors centre, however as this wasn’t out first visit we decided to find our own route round the woods, taking in as much tree climbing and leaf collecting as possible on the way.
Our adventure ended with a grand finale….meeting the big man himself!
After having a little snack in the picnic area, which is a dog free zone (yay!), we headed home for a spot of brownie baking (Ready to share our #BakeFace with Billingtons to be in with a chance of winning some fab prizes) and a movie.
As wonderful as the summer is an autumn walk, like the one we had at the Gruffalo Woods Brentwood, really does remind me how much I love the return of the colder months!….only 11 weekends left until Christmas!
Gruffalo Woods Brentwood is such a fab, not to mention LOW COST, day out. We are truly spoilt to have it on our doorstep.
