I’m often asked what are the best places to visit in Essex, and that really is the easiest and hardest question to answer all at once.

Essex is actually quite famous for food, it’s most of the time we don’t even realise it.  Mersea Oysters, Maldon Salt, Tiptree Jam, these products are sold the world over. It’s no surprise then that Essex has some of the best places in the country for foodies.  The Company Shed in Mersea is THE place to go for fish and sea food, Wilkin and Sons Tea Rooms offer cream teas to rival the best and Le Talbooth in Deadham is there for the finest of fine dining experiences the country has to offer.

Adventure Island in Southend (formally Peter Pans) and Walton Pier are staple places to visit for traditional seaside rides, Marsh Farm and Colchester Zoo offer children big and small the chance to get up close to all manner of farm animals and wildlife and the abundance of country parks and woodlands such as Great Notley Discovery Centre and Epping Forest means that an adventure is never far away.

Recently rebranded as the Discovery Coast, Essex is very proud of is coastline. Frinton offers the best of a traditional seaside resort, Old Harwich is a wonderful example of real working port and Old Leigh offers some of the best beer gardens and fish’n'chips you will ever find.

    I love Essex (might be a little bit biased of course!) and I think people often think of it as being an extension of London, or just all like TOWIE. But it’s so rammed with beautiful natural spaces, we are so lucky!!! x
