In just over 3 months I will turn 30. WHAT! My most favourite phrase over the past 12 months has been ‘before Im 30…’.  I had such grand plans. Places I would go, things I would learn, weight I would lose.  The only problem with all this is how fast life was passing. I mean, seriously, where is the time going?

Firstly, how can I be 30? 30??? I swear its been about 3 weeks since I turned 24.

I don’t feel that old (not that 30 is OLD – but it is older than I feel inside). I’m certainly not at the stage where I’m considering botox treatments yet, but something feels different. I just can’t put my finger on quite what.

It’s more how other people are treating it.  ’Ohhh 30!!!’ my (thoughtless) younger friends will say ‘that’s just sooooo old isn’t it??’ well no, it’s not I want to scream at them, you’ll be here before you know it. ‘It’s all down hill from then’ I helpfully keep being told, as if life as I know it is about to be over. Will I wake up on May 19th with boobs round my ankles and a full head of grey hair? probably not.  Maybe they think I should grow up and finally decide what I’m going to do with my life….but where is the fun in that?

before I'm 30

Before I’m 30…

I should have ticked off at least a third of my bucket list by now, when in actual fact I’ve been too busy living to write a list of things to do before I’m dead.  I see so many lists of what I should have achieved by this age. I reckon if I read them all I would never have the time to actually do anything on. So I don’t! Instead I am going to just do three things before I’m 30.

Before I’m 30 – the to do list

1. Write a will. Morbid yes, but necessary. I am actually a little ashamed that, as a married mother of two, I have none of my requests and wishes written down in a legal binding fashion.

2. Write a letter to each of my girls, for their 21 birthdays, telling them about my 20′s (with strict instructions to never tell their grandmother of my confessions).  They may, if they are anything like me at that age, think everything I say to them is rubbish – hopefully this letter will be something they can reference and learn from over the most challenging, yet life-changing, decade they will face.

3. Say my thank you’s to the people who got me from 20 to 30.  Cards, flowers, presents or even just a great big hug. I have a list of 20 people that, since 2004, have changed my life in ways they may not even know. Without them I would not be the person I am today. I have to thank them. I want to thank them. I will thank them.

Before I’m 30… Just three simple things – but ones that feel fit to mark a milestone. Partnered Post

LOVE your pre-30 to do list. Such a lovely idea and will ensure that other people are also feeling special and appreciated. I definitely stopped ageing at 21. It was such a fun age!!! x
