This year has started off quite well travel-wise.  Nothing like a New Years Day flight to NYC to start the year with a bang!

As for the rest of the year, I have grand ideas. There is something very inspiring about planning your travels for the next 12 months don’t you think? Writing my travel wish list 2014 has given me a whole host of ideas for short breaks and holidays to take this year.

Travel Wish List 2014  - An Essex Wife

UK Breaks

After our amazing holiday to Looe last summer I am completely sold on the wonder of holidays within the UK.  We are planning a return visit in April and I am very excited about seeing this tranquil fishing village in all its Springtime beauty.  Aside from Cornwall there are a plethora of UK towns and villages on my ‘to-visit’ list. Camping in The Lake District is high up on the list, as is a short break in one of the picturesque shoreline holiday cottages in Whitby. I love the Great British Seaside.

Girls Holidays

This year is a big one – I turn 30!  To celebrate/commiserate I will making a pilgrimage back to The White Isle in June with some of my very best girlfriends. I’m sure much has changed since my last visit to Ibiza in 2009 but I know as soon as I step off the plane I will get that familiar feeling of freedom and adventure that I have come to love about this party Mecca. August brings with it a weekend Hen Doo in Portugal for one of the loveliest girls I know. Three days of Sun, Sea and Sex On The Beach (I’m taking about the cocktail you naughty little lot) with some very exciting company. I simply can’t wait.

Festivals

Last year we took our first steps into being a ‘family that festivals’ thanks to the awesomeness that is Camp Bestival. We will certainly be returning there this year and are also looking to add Latitude or Just So to our repertoire this summer too.

Skiing Holiday

Finally I really am hoping that 2014 will be the year that I return to the heaven that is skiing holidays.  For the past five years, due to bumps and babies, I have been absent from the slopes – and there hasn’t been a year in which the sound of powder snow gliding under my blades has not been missed.  I am a total ski bunny. I should be happy with a ski trip to France or Austria, but I have my heart set on Canada….have to see if I can get that past The Essex Husband first though.

So that is my Travel Wish List 2014. What’s on yours? I would love to know.

How lovely to have so many things to look forward to – and congrats on the approach of the big birthday! We also love holidaying in the UK, and are hoping to go to various places including Hever Castle (I love a good castle) and Lincoln (always wanted to go) this year. Other than that, I’m not sure, although the 12 year old craves Italy, if only for the pasta and ice cream!
