I love Hylands House and its grounds. Not a week goes by where we don’t visit at some point. Farmers market, walks, activity parks and great shows are just a handful of the things on offer at this beautiful Essex stately home.
This week saw the Cambridge Touring Company arrive at Hylands with their swash-buckling family adaptation of Treasure Island.
Performed on the back lawn of the house, it was a wonderful show in wonderful settings. Pre show, the characters mingled with the families and got the children really excited for what was to come next and once on stage they did not disappoint. Catchy sea-shanties to sing, slapstick family friendly humor to enjoy and cute, colourful, costumes and set to be mesmerised by. In the 2 hours the show was on (with a twenty-minute interval) I did not see one child move, they were simply transfixed by the captivating performances of these impossibly energetic, friendly actors.
Next year they are performing my very favorite, Alice In Wonderland. I think I’m more excited than Scarlett about going to see that!
