Its less than three days until the party of the century…..and Operation: Mad Hatters Tea Party is in full swing.

The invites were sent out last month and I have had so many compliments on them (hoping I haven’t set the standard too high when it comes to the actual party!).  I used Paper Shaker to design them and was hugely impressed by the wide range of options and images there were on offer.  I went for a pink theme with lots of clocks, reminding people not to be late for this very important date. When an idea is sold to me on the basis that I will se a metre long arm and a head that doesn’t belong to a body I’ll be honest with you, I cannot help but be intrigued (and a little scared!!).

Luckily this wasn’t the start of a scary horror movie, it was three members of the amazing dance group Diversity showing off their crazy skills and giving us all a few ‘how to’ tricks and tips to help create optical illusions with our bodies. Celebrating the launch of the fab new unexpected flavour combinations from Cadbury’s Marvellous Mix-Ups, Ashley, Jordan and Perri have produced a set of amazing videos for the whole family to enjoy, and hopefully even inspire some people to create their own. My big 3 0 may have come and gone but that doesn’t mean the celebrations have to stop.  In less than 2 weeks I will be making a pilgrimage back to The While Isle to relive my youth and embark on my lifelong plan of growing old disgracefully.

With age may come wrinkles and a delightful jiggle when you walk, but it also brings with it life experience and a little more money in the bank.  Life experience is telling me that budget flights are no longer the way to go, and my bank balance saying its OK to book a hotel that doesn’t make you share your room with a family of cockroaches.

We have booked flights with BA (hello complimentary G&Ts) and I am even considering valet parking at the airport! Not sure if this is luxury or laziness though?

We have booked into Read More →

You are never alone when you have books, or at least thats what I believed growing up as an only child. I may not have had siblings at home with me but that didn’t mean I couldn’t go on adventures with friends.  Solving mysteries with The Secret Seven, getting into trouble with My Naughty Little Sister, even going down drain with Flat Stanley…reading fuelled my imagination and never failed to make me feel happy.

Ever since I found out that I was going to me a mother I have dreamed of sharing books with my girls.  Pouring over the pages, reading the words aloud, savouring these ordinary moments that will shape their futures. Read More →

I was part of the hundreds (well it felt like hundreds anyway) of bloggers who, last weekend, were asked to be part of the #MorrisonsMum campaign.

Kindly Morrisons gifted us with £80 of vouchers to spend in store on all we would need for a Bank Holiday weekend of fun. They wanted to show all of us, and for us to show all of you, what the new, cheaper Morrisons looked like, and hopefully report back with tales of great deals and even better service.

My nearest Morrisons about 10 minutes drive away isn’t very big so we headed to the next town to visit the superstore that is located there. Read More →

There has been BIG news coming out of the LolliBop camp this week. The UK’s biggest kids festival has announced it’s most exciting line-up to date, with CBeebies Superstar Justin Fletcher headlining on Saturday and Sunday and Mister Maker taking over the main stage on Friday.

The event, which this year takes place at the brand new venue Hatfield House on August 15th to 17th, also welcomes stars of CBBC’s Big Friday Wind Up Sam & Mark to LolliBop for the first time. Read More →

There are many milestones I have enjoyed with my children. First swim, first holiday, first day at school. The list goes on and on.

Today we found a new milestone to enjoy together. The first time of flying a kite.

Well I say flying, but really it was more throwing it up, running and hoping for the best. We *may* have chosen our kite on how pretty it was over the practicality of it, so they flying part wasn’t very successful, but we did have a lot of fun trying.

As we are spending the weekend with family on the Essex coast it seamed the perfect opportunity to give the kite a whirl.

Here’s how we got on… Read More →

How Well Do You Know Your UK Holiday Destinations?

How well do you know your UK holiday destinations? More and more families are opting to holiday at home than ever before. It keeps travel times down, helps the local economy and can be an awful lot cheap than a week abroad in the sun somewhere.

How Well Do You Know Your UK Holiday Destinations?

Parkdean Holidays have designed a fun little quiz to test your knowledge of UK holiday destinations. The quiz is simple to do, you just have to choose the holiday pictures you think are from the UK holiday destinations (harder than it sounds), and then at the end you’ll be given a score of how well you have done. I scored 123 (which could do with some improvement!) – looks like I need to visit some more UK holiday destinations to brush up on my knowledge.

For an added bonus, everyone who completes the UK holiday destinations quiz Read More →

The weekend just gone marked the start of 9 days off work for The Essex Husband.  Just over one whole week of uninterrupted family time. 100% bliss.

Starting as we meant to go on Sunday was spent in London having fun family adventures.

We attended a lovely HP Easter event at The Museum of Childhood and were treated to an afternoon of Easter crafts and printing activities.  I was hugely impressed with cards available to print at home from HP creations and will be making many more of those this weekend for our loved ones.  Aside from this the girls took part in a very cute Easter themed photo-shoot from which I cannot wait to see the photos! How long have you known your oldest friend? 5 years? 15 years? 50 years??

Sometimes, if you are really really lucky, a friend you make at school will stay by your side forever. That friend, who on your wedding day is smiling from congregation, remembering the first boy you kissed or the first girl who broke your heart and beaming with relief that they are not the one you are marrying right now, is worth their weight in gold.

My girls are lucky to be surrounded by good friends. Both popular girls who are magnets to all who meet them. Some friends I like more than others (I’m sure thats a normal thing as a parent), but I know most of them won’t be around forever. Friends come and go as life changes don’t they.

People say friends come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.

Looking at the friends my girls have right now, even at such a young age, I really do believe
