Back at The Leicester Square Theatre for the Christmas run, Stick Man is the wonderful stage adaptation of the Julia Donaldson classic.

Having taken the girls to see the show last year and loving it we jumped at the chance to head back this year to share the joy with The Essex Husband as well.

The Leicester Square Theatre is a great location for children’s shows. Apart from the auditorium being downstairs (que a lot of little legs taking their time to get down the stairs) I cannot fault the venue. It’s intimate and unimposing, even sat right at the back your view is fab, and they have ample booster seats for the smaller patrons amongst the audience.

The show itself is inviting and warm-hearted from the moment the curtain rises.

It captures the imagination of all in the audience, both big and small, leaving everyone routing for the unlucky Stick Man to get back to his Stick Lady Love in family tree.

From the excellent music, to the chase scenes through the audience, not to mention the very exciting game of catch with some giant beach balls, this show is a great introduction to theatre for youngsters.

If you are looking for a family show this Christmas, and especially if you have Stick Man fans at home, then I cannot recommend this show highly enough.

I am already planning to see it again in 2015.
