1. Willows Farm Potato Shindig

Back for it’s forth year Willows Activity Farm annual Potato Shindig is taking place every weekend in September.

Giving families looking to make the most of the great outdoors the perfect opportunity to get out, get active and get involved with where their food comes from, Willows farmer Andrew believes “Potato Shindig is a great all-round learning opportunity as children get to experience first-hand what it’s like to take food from the field to their fork by harvesting their own crop of potatoes from our Potato Patch. In addition to letting them get their hands dirty at Willows, Farmer Anna has also developed a special children’s recipe for Roast Potato Mice to whet their appetite for developing cooking skills at home.”

Every child who visits during Potato Shindig month will be able to take home their harvested spuds and families can also take spuddy-selfies in Willows’ Potato Head cut outs and turn Picassos into Picasso-worthy art in the Potato Printing zones.

We absolutely loved Willows Farm when we visited, this really will be one not to miss.

2. Marsh Farm’s Potato Picking Party

This month Marsh Farm turns 30!  and to celebrate they have a whole months worth fun activities on offer for all the family. Set in over 30 acres of beautiful farm land and surrounded by acres of country park on the edge of the River Crouch, you won’t find a more idyllic setting for a family fun farm.

Ever dreamt of being a farmer? Then join Farmer Ferrers in the potato field and have fun digging up your dinner before heading inside and getting creative with some spud men making.

Alongside this there is all the fun found in your itinerary of the days activities, “The Little Magic Book for a Big Day-out”. Meet the animals, see the bird of prey show (always the highlight of our day), cuddle the pets and take a pony ride. There is also a fab indoor play area and plenty of places to get some tasty food, plus great outdoor inflatables and ample space for a family picnic.

So why wait any longer, put on your wellies, roll up your sleeves and get digging!
