Family Weekend Sadler’s Wells’ is a wonderful two-day festival of family friendly performances, and an array of interactive workshops, offering entertainment for all ages. This year’s festival, taking place on 18 & 19 April 2014, has a range of activities on offer in the front of house areas of the theatre, as well as two shows by acclaimed dance companies balletLORENT and gobbledegook.

Rapunzel - Age Guidance 6+ years

After sell-out performances at last year’s Family Weekend, balletLorent’s Rapunzel returns to Sadler’s Wells. The classic Brothers Grimm fairytale is re-imagined by Liv Lorent and written by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy.
Known for her cascading hair and entrapment within a tall tower, balletLorent’s Rapunzel shows the darker beauty of this classic tale. This production features music by Murray Gold (Doctor Who) and costumes by Michele Clapton (Game of Thrones), accompanied with narration from actress Lesley Sharp (Scott & Bailey, Clocking Off)
Deep In The Woods - Age Guidance: 2 – 5 years

After enjoying a sell-out visit to the Lilian Baylis Studio in Autumn 2013, gobbledegook returns with Deep In The Woods, which intertwines shadow play, interactive video installations and a thrilling fusion of contemporary dance and acrobatics.
Deep In The Woods is an interactive show about a little girl who bravely ventures into a dark and mysterious wood, and is specifically designed for children aged two to five years. The tale unfolds as the young audience helps to create a magical world using shadow and light to guide the little girl through her bewitching adventure.

Rapunzel Workshops: Friday 18 & Saturday 19 April at 12.30pm & 4.30pm
Cost: £2 Duration: 60 minutes
A relaxed and enjoyable way for adults and children aged six and over, of all abilities, to explore some of the images, themes and movement motifs from Rapunzel.
Deep In The Woods Workshops: Friday 18 & Saturday 19 April at 3.30pm
Cost:£2 Duration: 45 minutes
A creative dance workshop exploring themes from the show, perfect for children aged two to four and their families who have lots of energy and enthusiasm. Participants will be able to explore the imaginary woodland by jumping, crawling, sliding and stretching their way into the magical forest.
