This year we are attempting the ’50 Things’ Challenge 2014.

50 things to do before you are 11 and 3/4 is the brain child of The National Trust. It was designed as a way to get more children enjoying the great outdoors, something I am a firm supporter of, and has grown into a wonderful project that many families are undertaking.

The list, containing 50 activities suitable for under 12′s, is full of wonderfully simple ideas such as skimming stones and climbing trees. Things we all did, and loved, as children, but that are being lost by the young people of today.

We will be blogging about our 50 Things Challenge 2014 progress, sharing the adventures this challenge takes us on, and any tips and ideas on how you could take part too. I hope that by the summer each and every one of us are getting out and about more as a family, re-discovering the fun that can be had by just simply being outdoors.

This week, thanks to our snowy American adventures, we have ticked off Number 15: Play In The Snow.
We rode sledges, made snow angels and threw snowballs – S couldn’t get enough off it, O wasn’t so sure.  It was snow far better than we ever get in England. Pure white and fluffy and up to their knees.  It made an amazing holiday even more special.

Who knows what next week may bring for the 50 Things Challenge 2014. With the weather the way it was today I think number six may be our best bet.  I will be sure to let you all know how we get on.
