I’m the only person with a pink license in our house, which means I’m the designated driver for all events we attend as a family. I don’t mind driving at all, but sometimes, when the sun is shining and the drinks are flowing, I do wish that I wasn’t limited to just one beer.
The last few weeks, thanks to the heat wave, we have had a flurry of BBQ invitations sent our way. Add to this a wonderful wedding in Hove this weekend and I have been ‘Des’ more times than I care remember this month already.
So on Sunday I decided enough was enough, I wanted Bombay Sapphire Cocktails and I wanted one NOW!
I headed out to the supermarket to stock up on the necessities; drinks, mixers, nibbles and BBQ bits, ready for our family afternoon in the sunshine. With it being so close to The Essex Husband’s birthday we made an executive decision to start the celebrations early and have a mini party, just the four of us.
I love time with my girls and my man. They are my very best friends, and my very favorite company. I get this warm fuzzy feeling when I’m with them, I feel complete.
I turned to my new BBQ friend Levi for some culinary inspiration, finally deciding on Sweet Potato and Feta Burgers, and asked my trusty cocktail book for some advice on the best Bombay Sapphire Cocktails.
Bombay Sapphire Cocktails
I went for a Summer Punch. Mixing Bombay Sapphire, very favorite Gin, and trusty old Austins (poor mans Pimms) I added Ginger Ale and Lemonade to complete the concoction. This refreshing cocktail is best served over crushed ice and decorated with blueberries and a sprig of mint. The Essex Husband went for a trusty old G&T. Traditional, Crisp and Tasty, just like him really.
Sitting drinking my cocktail, with a smell of the BBQ wafting over and the sun beating down on my shoulders, I looked up to see my girls splashing about in the paddling pool and my husband tending to the food and had an overwhelming ‘pinch me’ moment.
Is this really my life? Am I really this lucky?
The answer is yes, and for that I will be eternally greatful.
I shopped for the Bombay Sapphire cocktails items in this post in my local Tesco store – if you would like to know more about my shopping experience then I have shared the photos in a Google Plus album.
