Right, we have had the BIBs, now I give to you…..The BABs.

The Blooming Awesome Blogger Awards

At Britmums Live I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know so many amazing people, that I felt I needed to find a way to say THANK YOU.

What better way to do this than with a completely silly, made up, blogging award that you can treasure forever??

First up we have the Best ‘Bad Influence’ Award.  An award going to the person who managed to   lead me astray the most this weekend.  There are many worthy nominees for this award (I clearly am too easily led). Alice from More Than Toast and Bryony from Love Bryony are up there with their persuasive talk of gin and wine making me spend most of Friday in All Bar One, but its the lovely Donna from Not Yet a Yummy Mummy who wins this award for her ‘lets skip this session and have another biscuit’ attitude that saw me only attend two workshops all weekend and gain about 5lbs.

Secondly I give to you the Friends Reunited Award, given to a member of the blogging community that I cannot believe I have only just met as it felt like I had known them forever.  Thats what I love about blogging, you know so much about someone before meeting them that conversation just flows and things are so easy.  It was like that this weekend when I finally had the pleasure of meeting Heather from SAHM Loving It, and whenever I see Kate from Wit Wit Woo its like I had seen her yesterday as conversation flows so easily.  This year for me though it was talking to T from Mummy Barrow at dinner that was the biggest shock. I look up to her so much as a blogger and a person that I thought we would have nothing to talk about (or more likely I would say something stupid and she would no longer want to talk to me) but the conversation flowed, and by the end of the meal I couldn’t believe we had only just met.  So much fun!

Next up we have the Tenna Award, the title going to the lady that made me laugh so much I had to cross my legs. I had a few of these moments over the course of the weekend, anytime I talked to Kate, listening to Actually Mummy read her blog post and hearing Katie from Mummy Daddy Me asking me to ‘look after’ Lucy while she went to toilet, to name but a few.  Yet no lady made me laugh this weekend, or indeed at any point in life, like that wonderfully funny (and amazingly tanned) Miss Katy Hill.  She has quick wit like no other, and couldn’t be more friendly if she tried.  Sorry Katy for drunkenly talking at you in the Hoxton lift, I was just very excited to have spent the evening with the lady who made realise its cool to want to climb trees with a full face of makeup!

We all love a freebie, so meeting brands at Britmums is great fun. My Best Brand Award goes to SodaStream hands down.  These ladies had vodka, and showed us how to make cocktails with what I had always believed to be a children’s toy. How wrong was I?? Needless to say I have one on its way to me and will be blogging drinks recipes ASAP.

Finally my last award is a bit of a heartfelt one. I am calling it the BIG Award as its given to the person I would most like to be when (if) I grow up.  I met some amazing women this weekend, people who have not just inspired me to be a better blogger, but also a better person. T and Annie blew my mind with how inspiring they are, Sarah from Grenglish is just so effortlessly cool and friendly and Kate from Wit Wit Woo has been so incredibly supportive to me in my quest to begin University. However I would like to give this award to Actually Mummy.  The way she writes, reads and talks to people just blows me away.  So knowledgeable, so committed, so personable. That Loquacious Schoolgirl is very lucky to have such a wonderful mum.

Well, that concludes the BABs for 2013…..I’m already excited about next year.

    oh you big softie!!

I am so pleased you thought we got on because I flipping loved talking to you. Sorry it was only brief as we all starved waiting for our pizzas and then once I had eaten I legged it.

Can we go for a kebab next time?

And can that next time not be next June but before?

Wow! Such lovely words about me! Thank you! A made-up award is every bit as meaningful and lovely to me as my BiB! It was lovely to see you, and yes, like Tanya says, it has to be done again, sooner rather than later. x

Oh my, this is SO lovely. You know what? You are one of the people that really stood out for me that weekend – I just felt so at ease talking to you and I have to say a massive THANK YOU for leading me to find the vodka. I have a SodaStream sat in my kitchen now thanks to that and can’t wait to get on the Elderflower vodka. We MUST meet up again soon as I’d love to spend more time with you xx
